How To Contribute

While we make use of devices as much as possible, we still occasionally need to purchase parts, operating systems, and tools. Through our sponsorship program, you can help Spread Digital Access with us!

What We Accept

Generally, we will accept all electronic devices up to 10 years of age. These include but are not limited to the following: laptops, desktops, tablets, monitors, keyboards, mice, and cables.
We occasionally can make exceptions to these general rules. If you have any questions about your devices, please reach out to us!

If you live near the New Trier Township area, fill out our Pickup Form, and we will pick up your devices—free of charge!

Binary Heart has resumed accepting donations via door pickup. Please know that the health and safety of both donors and recipients, as well as our team, is the No. 1 priority for Binary Heart. As a student-led non-profit organization operating to spread digital access across the Chicagoland area, it is our responsibility to be proactive in challenging times.

Currently, we are following guidance and recommendations from the Chicago Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), while continuing to evaluate our standard operating procedures. As we progress through these difficult times, we will strive to continue to pursue our goal of spreading digital access as we always have before.

As we continue to monitor current events, we are increasing these protocols, with additional layers of caution and mindfulness, to provide peace of mind to our donors, recipients, and team members.

These changes include:

  • Increasing the frequency of cleaning practices and decontamination procedures while repairing computers.
  • Limiting member interaction with donors and recipients when possible.
  • Increased presence and use of hand sanitizers among members
  • Ensuring that our members are continuously updated and educated on preventative measures outlined by the Chicago Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Additionally, all members have been advised not to participate in Binary Heart operations and to seek medical attention if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms or have come into contact with affected individuals.

As is the case nationwide, we are seeing significant impact on our operations. However, we aim to continue to spread digital access through these uncertain times in a way that keeps everyone safe and healthy.
